The Master of Management Studies (MMS) is a two-year full time management programme affiliated to the University of Mumbai and is approved by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education), Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India and Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra.

The programme is conducted under the direction of the University with functional specialisations offered in the areas of Finance; Marketing; Information Technology; Human Resources, Operations, Law, Consulting and Education Management. OIM believes that unless theories learnt in the classroom are connected to practices in the real world, learning has no meaning.

Therefore, classroom learning at OIM is augmented with intense practical learning through Live Research Projects and professional sessions (EXPLICO) where industry experts share their rich corporate experiences.


HIGHLIGHTS

  • Learning beyond curriculum (in addition to prescribed syllabus of the University) is provided to help students to be well-informed on latest advancements in the business and management domain.
  • Specializations are offered in the areas of Finance, Marketing, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations, Law, Consulting and Education Management. (specialization is offered if the number of students opting for the same are at least ten in numbers)

The two years full time MMS programme comprises of 4 semesters.

Year 1 | Semester I

Designed for developing broader understanding of basic principles of business & management.

Corporate Social Responsibility Project: In the beginning of academic session, students are encouraged to work for social wefare to develop understanding and sensitivity towards socio-economic problems existing in our Indian society.

Year 1 | Semester II

Emphasises on learning core subjects and an insight into various specialisation in business and management
Summer Internship: Compulsory 6-8 weeks summer internship in chosen industry to gain practical experience and complete research project on an identified issue or problem. Thus, providing an opportunity to the students to augment theoretical concepts with practical situations faced in the real world.
Team Team Building & 3600 Personality Development Project: Students are involved in various extra curricular activities that lead to making decisions under challenging situations. The spectrum and format of activities involve working in team and taking charge as potential team leader. The opportunity helps in developing various facets of personality, confidence building and in honing leadership qualities among students.

Year 2 | Semester III

In this Semester, students need to pursue specialisation of their choice and interest in greater depth. The academic rigor is increased due to inclusion of two University Papers – one paper on International Business common across all specialisations and other paper from the chosen area of specialization.

Specialisation Report: Students are required to complete industrial research projects in their area of specialisation.

Year 2 | Semester IV

focuses on universally applicable subjects like Environment Management, Entrepreneurship, Business Ethics and Management Control Systems etc. And, concludes with submission of Research Project in their domain of specialization undertaken during Semester III.

The fourth semester would again be a specialization semester including two core subjects for all specializations. Students should pursue an internship of 4 months during the fourth semesters and shall attend lectures on weekends i.e Saturday and Sunday. Through this arrangement students shall acquire conceptual knowledge and put into practice as part of experiential learning.

At the end of internship students have to submit a final report on their internship along with certificate of successful completion from the organization containing the details of areas where they have acquired hands on experience in the organization.

Throughout the course students work towards mastery of fundamentals in management and domain expertise in a specific field through a challenging dynamic and rigorous curriculum.
