Message from the Program Head

Today, globalization and industrialization have made the business world all-powerful and ever-changing and this complex world needs ‘management’ in all its essence to function effectively. OIM realises that the current age industrial world demands the need for ‘management abilities’ to handle the complex, multidimensional business spheres. It is well admitted that an integration of academic knowledge and real time experience is what forms the right foundation for future managers, leaders, and entrepreneurs.

With this view, our program emphasises on the right blend of academic rigour and industry connect for the holistic development of our students. In addition to internships, projects, workshops, seminars and guest sessions; various other co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and events are planned and organised on a continuous basis for developing interpersonal skills and leadership qualities amongst our students.

Master of Management Studies (MMS) is the flagship 2 year post graduate study & learning program. The program degree is provided by the University of Mumbai. Though the course syllabus of the programs is as specified by the University, however the institute goes beyond the boundaries in giving exposure to the students in terms of interaction with experts from the industry, visits to the industry, experiential learning, participation in events and cultural environments. Thus, OIM delivers a holistic program

Program Objectives

The MMS programme prepares a student for a career in diverse sectors nationally as well as globally. The MMS programme facilitates absorption and application of knowledge in theory and practice across multiple functional areas of management and enables students to adopt an integrated approach towards real-life situations and circumstances.

The program aims at enhancing the following skillsets

  1. Exposure to Global practices
  2. Application of technology and enhancement of technological skills
  3. Peer-based learning and teamwork
  4. Experiential Learning (Learning by Action and Application)
  5. Team building basics and its orientation

Program Structure

MMS program is 2 years full-time course spread over 4 semesters. The first two semesters have common subjects for all. At the end of the 2nd-semester students are required to do a Summer Internship Project (SIP) in an organization, wherein they learn the practical work aspects and apply management concepts learned in the classroom. The students also get the opportunity to go for a study cum Industry visit tour.

The 2nd year comprising of 2 semesters is the specialization year (Marketing, Finance HR, Operation and System), wherein students get to study and learn subjects in their chosen domain specialization. During the 4th semester, the students are required to do 3 capstone projects.

Evaluation of the students is done on a continuous basis by the faculty through assignments, presentations, group projects, and class tests. The end semester examinations are largely conducted by the institute except for one paper each in the 3rd and 4th Semesters by the University.
